HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- James Harden and P.J. Tucker practiced with the Rockets on Monday after missing time with the team.

Neither of the Rockets' veterans traveled with the team to Chicago for a pair of preseason games over the weekend.

Harden showed up to training camp late after socializing in Atlanta and Las Vegas. He required six consecutive negative COVID-19 tests before practicing.

Harden is reportedly seeking a trade out of Houston, despite the Rockets' insistence on keeping him with two years and a third-year option left on his current deal.

Tucker on Monday said he dealt with some injuries which held him out of the trip to Chicago, but his discontent with not having a contract extension is well-known.

Rockets first-year head coach Stephen Silas said it was good to have both Harden and Tucker with their veteran savvy and ability.

When asked about Harden's commitment to the team, Silas said he just talked basketball with the Rockets' star.

"We had a good conversation and I'm just going to leave it at that," Silas said. "You can ask him about his commitment and all of that sort of thing. But we had a good conversation. He was locked in. He was asking good questions. He was bringing up good points. We had a good discussion, so that's it."

The Rockets held a light practice Monday at Toyota Center after flying into Houston late from Chicago.

Harden will play Tuesday night against the San Antonio Spurs, and Silas said they would figure out his minutes.

"We talk basketball and I'm a basketball coach and he's a basketball player. We talked hoop today," Silas said. "So as far as commitment to what we're doing basketball-wise, he was right there. As far as the rumors and all of the other stuff, I can't speak to. That's another question you'll have to have for him.

"It really hasn't been that much of a distraction. It's been something the media has been talking about quite a bit and I've had to answer a lot of questions about. But as far as our growth and our pushing forward this season, we've kind of been right on pace. And now adding (Harden and Tucker) to the mix just makes it better, so I see it as a positive."
