HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) The Houston Rockets are moving on from Christian Wood.

Houston is trading Wood to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for center Boban Marjanovic, point guard Trey Burke, guard Sterling Brown, forward Marquese Chriss and the No. 26 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, according to multiple reports.

The trade can not become official until NBA Draft night on Thursday, June 23, due to the Mavs owing the New York Knicks a protected 2023 first-round pick, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

For the Rockets, they receive several of the Mavericks' fringe rotational players. None of the players Dallas sent to Houston will receive saw significant action in their surprising playoff run that ended in the Western Conference Finals. And each player is entering the final years of their contracts.

The biggest prize in this deal for Houston is the No. 26 pick. The Rockets already own the picks No. 3 and No. 17. By moving Wood, Houston has cleared the way to give more playing time to 2021 first-rounder Alperen Sengun, and whoever ends up falling to them at No. 3, whether that's Gonzaga's Paolo Banchero or Gonzaga's Chet Holmgren.
