Former Rockets general manager Daryl Morey was introduced as the Philadelphia 76ers' President of Basketball Operations, and on Tuesday the Athletic reported he'd like to acquire James Harden from the Rockets.
"I'm told Philadelphia is expected to be interested in and pursue James Harden," Shams Sharania reported.
Morey acquired Harden in a trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder eight years and watched as the guard led the Rockets to eight straight playoff appearances, winning the 2018 MVP in the process.
Harden, 31, is under contract with the Rockets for three more seasons, with him holding a player's option on the last year. He has given no indication he wants to be dealt and Sharania called trade talks with the Sixers or any other team a "non-starter".
