Report: Rockets trade Porter to Oklahoma City

Currently away from the team after his arrest in New York, the Rockets reportedly traded Kevin Porter Jr to Oklahoma City

A little more than five weeks after his arrest for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, the Rockets reportedly traded Kevin Porter Jr. to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Porter faces charges of second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault in New York, and had been away from the team since his arrest on September 11.

The Rockets are attaching two second round picks, 2027 from Minnesota and 2028 from Milwaukee, to Porter, who is owed $16.8 million, and will receive Victor Oladipo and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl from the Thunder.

Oladipo, a two-time All-Star, played in 20 games for the Rockets in 2021 after being acquired from Indiana in the James Harden trade. He will make $9.5 million this season and is currently rehabbing a torn patellar tendon in his left knee, suffered during last year's playoffs.

Robinson-Earl, the 32nd pick of the 2021 draft, has averaged 7.2 points in the first two seasons of his NBA career, but has appeared in just 92 games. He is owed $1.9 million this season with a $2 million team option for 2024-25.
