Rockets rookie Amen Thompson to miss remainder of Summer League with ankle sprain: reports
Rockets rookie point guard Amen Thompson is expected to miss the remainder of Summer League action with a Grade 2 ankle sprain he suffered in the opener Friday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Thompson left the game in the fourth quarter after an awkward fall while trying to block a shot. The ankle sprain is expected Thompson out three to four weeks, according to ESPN Andscape's Marc J. Spears.
While the injury is unfortunate, Thompson's play in his 28 minutes of action was encouraging. He looked comfortable as a floor general, exceptional as an athlete and active defensively. He finished with 16 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals.
The Rockets drafted Thompson, a 6'7" point guard, with the No. 4 overall pick in the NBA Draft last month. His performance Friday, while still a small sample, showed signs of him being able to contribute once he's recovered from the ankle injury.

Showed out in transition as expected. In halfcourt was able to get downhill and made good kickouts, PnR reads as well as interior feeds.
The athleticism/downhill ability alongside passing gonna make him an elite playmaker. pic.twitter.com/62T7AYrDu8
Houston will presumably start veteran Fred VanVleet at point guard after signing him to a three-year, $130 million contract in free agency.
