HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Second overall pick Jalen Green will headline the Rockets 12-man Summer League squad that will play five games in Las Vegas starting on Sunday, the team announced on Friday.
Green will be joined by in Vegas by fellow first round picks Alperen Sengun, Usman Garuba, and Josh Christopher. Rockets general manager Rafael Stone initially said Garuba was a question mark because he was in Tokyo with the Spanish National Team, but they were eliminated earlier this week in the quarterfinals by the United States.
Four members of the 2020-21 Rockets are scheduled to play Summer League, including last years's second round pick K.J. Martin, who averaged 10.4 points and 5.9 rebounds after the All Star Break. Anthony Lamb, Khyri Thomas, and Armoni Brooks are also listed on the team.
Four free agents round out the roster. Jalen Tate, younger brother of Rockets forward Jae'Sean Tate, Matthew Hurt, Marcus Foster, and Trey Phills, whose father Bobby played for Stephen Silas' father, Paul, in Charlotte when he was killed in a car accident 21 years ago.
Rockets assistant coach Will Weaver will be the team's head coach with Rick Higgins, DeSagana Diop and Will Dunn serving as assistants. The team's first game will be Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 central.
