HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- Alperen Sengun has found himself matched up with Steven Adams in five games during his NBA career, and he's not sad he won't have to do so for the foreseeable future.
"He's the strongest guy in the league," Sengun said after the Rockets 135-106 win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday night.
Sengun and Adams are now teammates after the Rockets acquired the latter in a trade from the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday. Adams will miss the remainder of this season after undergoing knee surgery in October, but Sengun is looking forward to be playing with him next season.
"He's a great screener, great offensive rebounder, so I think there's a lot to learn from him, so I'm excited to work with him."
Sengun hasn't spoken to Adams, who has been rehabbing in Washington D.C, but he's excited to see him whenever Adams joins the team, which won't come before the end of the Rockets upcoming four-game Eastern Conference road trip.
In his third NBA season, Sengun is averaging 21.7 and 9.3 rebounds per game, which nearly earned him a spot on the Western Conference All-Star Team, but the Rockets added Adams to add some physicality to their team, and Sengun believes going up against Adams in practice will only help him in the long run.
"I need to play with him every practice. Since I came here I had a lot of players I worked with, so that makes my game improve. He's played with a lot of great players. I believe he has a lot of things to teach me when he comes here."
