HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610)- The Rockets have not run a post-up for Alperen Sengun in either of their last two games, but that is something head coach Stephen Silas would like to see change.
"It's usually about the matchups those nights," Silas said before Monday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. "If he's against (Jusuf) Nurkic or an (Joel) Embiid type guy he'll get less post touches, but I do want to be more intentional about getting the ball in the post."

The Rockets are averaging 0.986 points on Sengun's post-up possessions this season, per Synergy Sports, which is in the 62nd percentile, but he's averaging just 2.7 post touches per game, but that number has dropped to just 1.3 over the last 16 games.
“We've been playing a bunch of pick and roll lately, so he's been waiting for that pick and roll to happen as far as being in a position where he can set a screen at an angle where they're not gonna go under or getting down the floor and then coming back up the floor so we can get to that, but if he can beat his man up the floor and get a paint seal, we're looking for that, and we haven't gotten that much, so we're definitely going to harp on that a little bit more because I do agree that he needs a few more posts touches.”
Post-ups are Sengun's second most frequent play. He's averaging four possessions per game as a roll man in the pick and roll, which is netting 1.068 points per possession, which is only in the 38th percentile.
