Rockets Twitter account fools everyone by impersonating Elon Musk in hilarious stunt

Now that Tesla founder and Billionaire mogul Elon Musk brought Twitter for a staggering $44 billion, many across the platform either took issue with the news or used the announcement to have some fun.

The Houston Rockets were one of the notable accounts to use the news to their advantage, going as far as to impersonate the polarizing figure and fool their fans and everyone else on Twitter.

The team's social media team tricked everyone on Thursday, changing their name and profile picture to that of Elon Musk. Upon making the switch, they posted a tweet reading, “After I buy Twitter, I’m going to make it illegal for the Houston Rockets not to get the first pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.”

After folks started to see that the tweet didn't actually come from Musk but rather from the Rockets, many big names across Twitter reacted, praising the franchise for a social media win.

Whoever runs the teams' Twitter account needs a raise.

However, manifesting the first overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft seems rather useless since the lottery held a month before the actual event is what decides the top 14 picks. Houston had the worst record in the league this season (20-62) but only have a 14% chance at picking first overall. (sharing the same chances with the Orlando Magic and the Detroit Pistons)

The NBA Draft Lottery takes place on May 17th.
