HOUSTON (Sports Radio 610) - As we already know, Cal McNair and the Houston Texans have retained the search firm, Korn Ferry, to help identify their next general manager and head coach. Now, McNair says he's enlisted the help of some prominent names in sports to help with the search.

The list is headlined by Texans Ring of Honor member, Andre Johnson. Also included are R.C. Buford, CEO of the San Antonio Spurs; Tony Dungy, Pro Football Hall of Fame member; Jimmy Johnson, Pro Football Hall of Fame member and Rod Graves, Executive Director of the Fritz Pollard Alliance and long-time NFL executive.

McNair made the announcement in a letter to the franchise's season ticket holders Tuesday morning.

You can read his entire message below.

"As we head into the holiday season, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your continued support of the Houston Texans.  We could not do what we do each and every day without your passion for our team.

"My dad’s mantra was always, “You can’t go wrong by doing what’s right” and while doing what’s right isn’t always easy, we carry this mission forward. This franchise was founded upon the ideals of winning championships, creating memorable experiences and doing great things for the City of Houston.
We have always been steadfast in our pursuit of these objectives and this will not change. You are our most loyal supporters and our highest priority is to provide you a world-class franchise to cheer on each Sunday.

"Every season has its challenges, and this season is no different, but I want to reassure you, we are dedicated to excellence from the top down. I’m excited and optimistic about our future and am committed to doing the hard work to earn a Super Bowl title for my hometown.

"To that end, I have retained Korn Ferry, the leading search firm in professional sports, to help us identify the right general manager and head coach to lead us into the next era of the Houston Texans. The group involved in this search includes myself, Houston Texans President Jamey Rootes, and the search firm.  In this process, we are also consulting with some of the most highly regarded minds in sports to gain additional perspective. These individuals include R.C. Buford, CEO of the San Antonio Spurs; Tony Dungy, Pro Football Hall of Fame member; Jimmy Johnson, Pro Football Hall of Fame member; Rod Graves, Executive Director of the Fritz Pollard Alliance and long-time NFL executive, and Andre Johnson, Houston Texans Ring of Honor member.

"We will evaluate internally the feedback from these advisors and take the time we need to decide what is best for the Texans organization. We will consider any input we receive, but at the end of the day, my mom and I will decide who will lead our football team into the future. Our objectives are to have a world-class franchise and maintain your loyal support and pride in being a Houston Texan. Although there will be some uncertainty during the next couple of months, this truly is a time of excitement. We will update you about our future as we make progress. I’m looking forward to the remainder of our 2020 season and am fortunate to have you on this journey with us.

"Thank you again for being a valued member of our team. This is a partnership and we are blessed to have your support. We have the best fans in the National Football League, and we can’t thank you enough for your continued loyalty.

"From our family to yours, we wish you all a safe and happy holiday season."

Go Texans!
