The Houston Texans beat the Indianapolis Colts 20-16 on Sunday for their fourth straight win, inching closer to the top of the AFC South.
With the win, the Texans closed the gap between the Colts to just one game with their head-to-head season finale on the horizon.
Houston was able to get the win behind yet another dominant defensive performance and a steady run game between rookie Woody Marks and veteran Nick Chubb.
The Texans led 3-0 after the first quarter and took a 10-6 lead into halftime. It was a stalemate in the second half, with both teams scoring 10 points apiece.
Houston's lone first half touchdown was a four-yard run by Chubb, set up by a 22-yard pass play to Nico Collins.
The Texans took a 13-6 lead in the third quarter on Ka'imi Fairbairn's 43-yard field goal, but the Colts later tied the game after a 12-yard touchdown to tight end Tyler Warren.
It was the drive to give the Texans their game-defining lead that perhaps will cause the most controversy. A missed delay of game penalty, combined with a questionable pass interference call against Colts nickel cornerback Kenny Moore, kept a Texans drive alive on a critical third down play.
The Texans (7-5) were able to capitalize a few plays later with a seven-yard touchdown run by Collins.
They travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs (6-6) next week, while the Colts (8-4) travel to face the Jacksonville Jaguars (8-4), who now lead the division after beating the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
