Texans WR Braxton Berrios inactive for third straight game

Texans wide receiver and return specialist Braxton Berrios is among the team's inactive players for the third straight game.

The veteran was active in the Texans' 36-29 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this month, but not since. The last time he contributed on the field was his five catches on five targets in the Texans' 26-15 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 26.

Berrios has played in just four games for Houston this season, recording six catches for 37 yards, three punt returns for 25 yards and three kick returns for 81 yards.

Also inactive for the Texans on Sunday against the Colts are left guard Laken Tomlinson, rookie quarterback Graham Mertz, linebacker Jamal Hill and offensive tackle Jarrett Kingston.

The Texans will have their starting quarterback C.J. Stroud, who's missed the last three games with a concussion. They'll also return defensive back Jalen Pitre, who plays their nickel corner.

"Pitre opens our playbook up, the full playbook," head coach DeMeco Ryans said Friday. "We can do a lot of different things with Jalen. Everybody sees he's been a dynamic playmaker for us. Whether it's in the run game or the passing game. The kid flies around, he plays with his hair on fire. I love watching him play the game of football because he does it in such a relentless way, and he's going to be in position to make a ton of plays.

"We know offenses have to have awareness for [S] ‘JP’ [Jalen Pitre] and where he is at all times, because he's that type of impact player for us."
