C.J. Stroud was sleeping when Texans traded for Stefon Diggs

Maybe the rest of us were on the edge of our seats when the Texans traded for Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

But not C.J. Stroud.

The NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year gets a lot of phone calls, so he often leaves the device on "do not disturb" to avoid the hassle. He was still asleep on the morning the Texans made the Diggs trade, so he didn't get the news right away.

Instead, Stroud woke up on the West Coast to a text message from Houston-area music producer Chase B, who asked the young QB how he was feeling.

"And I'm thinking he's like asking me and I'm like 'I'm good, fam. How are you?' I had sent like five texts like that and then I woke up for real this time," Stroud said. "I was kind of like halfway texting in the bed. Woke up, brushed my teeth, washed my face and then I saw the news. I saw it on Instagram and I'm like, 'Oh, shoot. That's what they're talking about.' So, I didn't even tell Chase B or anybody like that. That was what I was implying, I really just thought he was checking up on me. It was cool. It was really fun to see that and this last year, I didn't have the opportunity to go before OTA's and have guys come out, so I'll probably do something again. Hopefully after OTA's, but that was just like, 'Hey, I'm up here throwing – you guys want to come down?' It went great though."
