C.J. Stroud walks off field after hard hit from Broncos' Kris Abrams-Draine

Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud walked off the field on his own power after suffering a hard hit to the upper body as he was attempting to slide.

The play happened in the second quarter Sunday, when Stroud escaped the pocket slid just short of the line to gain on 3rd and 8. Broncos quarterback Kris Abrams-Draine hit Stroud in the shoulder, near the neck.

It was initially deemed a targeting penalty, but the flag was picked up after an official replay review. Clearly the officials also ruled the hit wasn't late.

Houston, which held a 3-0 lead at the moment, punted on the next play.

Second-year safety Calen Bullock then intercepted Broncos quarterback Bo Nix on the following possession.

Stroud later left for the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion and his return was questionable. Davis Mills is at quarterback in his place.
