Deshaun Watson's anger level 'a 10' after Texans ignored search firm's GM advice: report

How the Houston Texans arrived at the decision to hire Nick Caserio as the general manager is not sitting well with multiple people within the organization, including Deshaun Watson.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Texans had hired the search firm Korn Ferry to assist in their search for a new GM but owner Cal McNair ignored their advice on who to hire.

Korn Ferry recommended Pittsburgh Steelers vice president of football and business administration Omar Kahn, but McNair instead chose Caserio – former New England Patriots director of player personnel – who was not on the firm’s list of candidates.

Watson is reportedly among those within the organization upset at the sudden and unexpected turn and is said to be “furious” at the direction of the team, per Schefter.

One person told the NFL insider that when DeAndre Hopkins was traded last year, Watson’s anger level was “a 2. … This time, it’s a 10.”

Watson’s displeasure with the Texans surfaced last week after he reportedly broached teammates about possibly requesting a trade.

According to Schefter, Watson is currently on vacation but McNair plans to speak with the quarterback upon his return.

Caserio has said that Watson is the team’s quarterback and told KILT’s Payne and Pendergast that Watson will be “an integral part of the process” on who the team decides to hire as its next head coach.
