Deshaun Watson questions why reporters keep filming him at Texans training camp

HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- For the reporters covering Texans training camp every day, it's become routine to film disgruntled and embattled quarterback Deshaun Watson as he walks onto the practice field.

See, there was a time when Watson was not expected to ever suit up for the Texans again, training camp included.

He's wanted to be traded at least since January, when the Texans hired Nick Caserio as general manager without seeking his input.

Watson made that even clearer several weeks later after the Texans hired David Culley as head coach.

Then came the sexual assault allegations and more than 20 lawsuits against the franchise quarterback, who signed a four-year, $156 million extension not even a year ago.

So even with all of this drama, turmoil and extreme roster turnover in Houston, Watson remains the Texans' best player on the roster, no matter what the unofficial depth chart tells you.

Watson, though, appears to have had enough of being filmed every day as he walks onto the practice field.

"Why y'all always filming me every day?" Watson asked. "It's the same shit."

He's not wrong about this. Watson's walk has not changed. He looks the same. It is repetitive and sometimes redundant.

But reporters are following this to tell a comprehensive story, to know exactly how everything develops from what our eyes are allowed to see.

There is a limited filming portion of every practice, which means reporters and photojournalists must make the most of their time.

Conveniently, we're getting as much film of players and coaches walking onto the field as possible, because that's the job.

Unfortunately, that's the closest interaction between Watson and media since the offseason drama unfolded.

Watson is unlikely to do interviews unless he's still on the active roster after the season, when it becomes a requirement.

At least for today, though, he broke up the monotony and spoke.
