While Texans left guard Kenyon Green was expected to miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury suffered on Halloween against the New York Jets, he's back practicing with the team.
Green, along with linebacker Christian Harris, was designated to return to practice from the injured reserve on Monday.
In the four games Green's missed, the Texans have mostly relied on Juice Scruggs at left guard. They moved Scruggs from center and replaced him with Jarrett Patterson, who was the backup guard and center before Green's injury.
It will be interesting to see how Green fits into the scheme of things, considering the way he was playing at the time of the injury. His pass protection was among the worst guards in football.
Green allowed 36 pressures, which was the most of any guard in the NFL at the time, and six sacks, which was second-most among guards.
Yet he's still more of a natural at the position than Scruggs, who plays center, where Patterson appears to be the preferred choice for Houston. Do the Texans bench Scruggs for Green at left guard? Do they move Scruggs back to center and bench Patterson if Green retakes his spot on the line? Or is Green the odd man out?
Stay tuned.
