Lopez: Jaguars are no longer a threat to Texans
The Texans took over as the AFC South champion and best team in the division last season.
It was just the first as head coach for DeMeco Ryans, who also employed a rookie offensive coordinator in Bobby Slowik and quarterback in C.J. Stroud (Offensive Rookie of the Year).
If this is what those guys are accomplishing in year one, imagine what the coming years have in store.
Meanwhile in Jacksonville, the clock is essentially running out on Trevor Lawrence's rookie contract. Soon, perhaps before the start of this season, the Jaguars will need to make a heavy investment in their franchise quarterback, who many are still questioning how good he actually is.
In The Loop's John Lopez has already decided.
While it's clear the Jaguars are going to pay Lawrence as their quarterback of the present and future, there is also a ceiling on how good they will be in a division with Ryans and Stroud. To Lopez, the Jags are no longer a threat to the Texans.
It's worth noting Lawrence is 2-4 against the Texans in his first three NFL seasons.
Do you agree with Lopez?
