(SportsRadio 610) - Texans second-year defensive lineman Ross Blacklock was playing his best football before testing positive for COVID-19 a few weeks ago.

Blacklock was playing about 35 percent of the defensive snap counts on the interior line. He sacked Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold in the last game he played.

Expect Blacklock to make his return to the field Sunday when the Texans (1-5) visit the undefeated Arizona Cardinals (6-0).

The matchup is interesting for obvious reasons, with former Texans greats J.J. Watt and DeAndre Hopkins now playing for Arizona.

It's the first time either player faces the Texans since their departure over the past two seasons.

No move by the Texans in that time was more scrutinized than the Hopkins trade, which brought back running back David Johnson and the 40th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft back to Houston.

The Texans eventually used the pick to select Blacklock, who struggled in his rookie season.
