FRISCO (105.3 The Fan) - It doesn't appear that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will play in the preseason.

"There's a good chance he probably won't play" this Saturday vs the Houston Texans, coach Mike McCarthy said before Wednesday's practice.

The coach added that Prescott will remain limited today as he continues to ramp back up his throwing workload, just as he was in the team's first padded practice at The Star on Monday night.

Prescott's preseason availability has been in doubt since McCarthy told the media Monday that "there's no urgency" for the quarterback to play in either of the team's final preseason games.

"If he doesn't play this week I won't play him in the fourth [preseason game]," McCarthy added. "To me, the fourth one is for the players competing for the roster spots."

Should Prescott not play in this Saturday's dress rehearsal vs the Texans, then the next start he'll make will be on Sept. 9 vs the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the season opener.
