Payne: Texans ahead of curve with short-term contracts, heavy on guaranteed money
The Texans are not shy about spending money.
They had the most expensive offensive line in football last season and went all-in this offseason through both free agency and high-profile trades.
Houston signed defensive end Danielle Hunter to a two-year, $49 million contract with $48 million guaranteed to the four-time Pro Bowler and former All Pro.
The Texans later traded a seventh-round pick to the Cincinnati Bengals for veteran running back Joe Mixon, who they gave a three-year, $27 million extension with $13 million guaranteed.
Seth Payne explains here how the Texans are ahead of the curve in how they are going about big money contracts.
