If the Texans' preseason home-opener is any indication, this has the makings of an explosive team on both sides of the ball.
Houston beat the New York Giants 28-10 behind an opportunistic defense and a mostly efficient offense in its third preseason game.
Jalen Pitre had a pick-six against Giants quarterback Daniel Jones to get the scoring started in the first quarter. John Metchie III caught a touchdown pass from Case Keenum in the second quarter to help put the Texans up 14-7 before a Giants field goal cut the score to 14-10 by halftime.
The second half was all Texans, with a pair of touchdowns for undrafted rookie running back British Brooks.
C.J. Stroud went 7-for-10 with 88 yards and a 97.1 passer rating. Keenum was 7-for-13 with 73 passing yards and a touchdown. Tim Boyle was 10-for-15 with 94 passing yards.
J.J. Taylor led Houston's ground game with 36 yards on five carries. Metchie had a team-high six catches and 68 receiving yards.
Defensively, the Texans caught two interceptions and forced three fumbles. The second interception was by Derek Stingley Jr. The forced fumbles came from linebackers Max Tooley, Neville Hewitt and rookie defensive end Solomon Byrd.
