The Texans' Joe Mixon saga ended over the weekend when the team granted his release.
Mixon missed the 2025 season with a mysterious foot injury after a Pro Bowl season for Houston in 2024. The Texans certainly missed him, finishing with the 22nd ranked rushing offense and the worst run block win rate in the league.
But Mixon's time in Houston, especially considering the lost season, wore out its life cycle. Mixon reportedly requested his release and the Texans obliged, saving $8 million in cap space.
