(SportsRadio 610) -- Another player from last year's Texans is no longer on the team.
Defensive tackle Brandon Dunn is the most recent player to be cut by the Texans, according to multiple media reports. Longtime NFL writer Aaron Wilson was first to report the news.
Dunn, 28, worked his way up from the Texans' practice squad since being signed from the Chicago Bears' practice squad in 2015. He was released and re-signed to the practice squad three times before inking a league-minimum deal in 2017.
In February 2020, the Texans signed Dunn to a three-year extension worth $12 million. Dunn's season ended with him being carted off the field in Chicago, against his former team, last December due to a fractured him.
Dunn told Mark Berman of FOX 26 the move was surprising.
"Like anybody, it always surprising to get released," Dunn told Berman. "But it's a business and I understand."
The Texans added much needed depth along the defensive line this past offseason after having one of the worst run defenses in the league.
Still competing for playing time on the interior defensive line will be Ross Blacklock, Maliek Collins, Vincent Taylor and Jaleel Johnson.
The Texans travel to face the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday in their second preseason game.
