There is still no substantial update on injured Texans RB Joe Mixon

Ten games into the season, Texans running back Joe Mixon has yet to play for the team and there is still no return date in sight.

When general manager Nick Caserio joined Payne & Pendergast on Tuesday morning, there was no substantial update on the Pro Bowl running back's foot injury that's kept him out the entire season.

“It’s a very gray situation," Caserio said. "Joe’s worked at it. There were times where he’s made progress and other times when the progress is kind of stalled. Obviously we’re getting pretty late in the game here, I don’t want to establish any sort of expectations. I don’t think we have anymore clarity at this point. He’s out until he’s not."

The Texans go into Thursday night's game against the Buffalo Bills ranked 23rd in rushing offense. Veteran Nick Chubb leads Houston's rushing attack with 419 yards and two touchdowns on 99 carries. Rookie Woody Marks has 348 rushing yards and the same amount of touchdowns on the same amount of carries.

Last season, Mixon rushed for 1,016 yards and had 1,325 yards from scrimmage in his second career Pro Bowl season. There has still never been a full explanation on Mixon's injury, or how it occurred.

Mixon has no more guaranteed money on his deal after this season.
