The Texans have locked in the starting tight end position in free agency.
They agreed to bring back Dalton Schultz on a three-year, $36 million deal with $23.5 million full guaranteed at signing, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday afternoon. Schultz played for the Texans last season on a one-year, $9 million contract and was set to be a free agent if Houston did not either extend, or franchise tag him.
The deal ensures C.J. Stroud gets back the top tight end target from his historic Offensive Rookie of the Year season, when Schultz had 59 catches for 635 yards and five touchdowns.
Houston still has needs at running back, along the defensive line, linebacker and cornerback.
