Texans agree to three-year extension with DB Jalen Pitre
The Texans have agreed to a three-year contract extension with defensive back Jalen Pitre, multiple media outlets reported Friday.
Pitre's new deal with worth up to $39 million, which includes $30 million guaranteed. He was entering 2025 on the final year of his rookie deal. Now he is under contract through the 2028 season.
Pitre, who played high school football nearby at Stafford and starred at Baylor, had an up-and-down first two seasons playing safety. But in 2024, DeMeco Ryans moved him to a hybrid nickel corner/linebacker type of role, operating more near the line of scrimmage.
His instincts and toughness suited him well in the new role, clearly well enough to land an extension.
Payne & Pendergast reacted to the news Friday morning with five things they like about the deal.
