HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- Injured Texans players are returning to the practice field after a bye week.
Cornerback Bradley Roby, who left the Oct. 25 matchup against Green Bay with knee and ankle injuries, is expected to practice this week. So are tight ends Jordan Akins, Kahale Warring, and safety A.J. Moore, interim head coach Romeo Crennel said Monday.
Having Roby is important for this team because he is usually assigned to the opponent’s top wide receiver. And the Texans’ depth at cornerback without him drops significantly enough to adjust their coverages accordingly.
Roby also has the Texans’ lone interception of the season.
Akins has been sidelined since a hit to the head in Week 4 by Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith. Akins entered the concussion protocol but also suffered an ankle injury.
Before his injury, Akins had become one of Deshaun Watson’s favorite targets.
Moore, who emerged from primarily a special teams player to a regular at safety this season, was placed on injured reserve after suffering a strained hamstring against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 27.
Warring, who was a third-round pick for the Texans in 2019, has yet to take an offensive snap for the team.
