Texans' Jalen Pitre after interception against Giants: 'It was fun, keeping things simple'
One of the clear winners from Saturday's 28-10 victory by the Texans over the New York Giants was third-year defensive back Jalen Pitre.
The former Baylor standout and Stafford product switched positions this season, from safety to nickel cornerback, after an up-and-down sophomore campaign under new head coach DeMeco Ryans.
A position change appears to be working early on, with Pitre doing a lot of his best work the closer he is to the line of scrimmage. He was the benefactor of pressure by edge rusher Derek Barnett on Saturday, when Daniel Jones found himself clutched in Barnett's grasp and chose to heave the football from his own end zone anyway.
There was Pitre, opportunistic and ready to take the haphazard pass back five yards for the Texans score.
"It was fun to get out there and compete with the guys," Pitre said after the game. "I feel like we did a good job as a team. We had five takeaways and any day you have five takeaways, it's a great day. We're looking to just continue to improve on that. ...
"Big shoutout to DB, pressure on the quarterback and he let it go. Thank God, I was right there."
