HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- Until Sunday's win against the Jaguars, Houston's defense had not forced a turnover all season.
So winning wasn't the only first this season for the Texans.
J.J. Watt recovered a fumble by Jaguars rookie running back James Robinson in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, outside linebacker Jacob Martin sacked Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew II and forced a fumble, recovered by Whitney Mercilus, who then fumbled, but it was recovered by Tyrell Adams.
It was also Adams' first fumble recovery of his career.
"That's a big thing we've been focused on is just getting the ball, because you can't win if you're losing the turnover battle every game," Texans cornerback Bradley Roby said after the game. "If your offense has the ball more than the other team, then you're going to win most likely. That was a big focus this week is that we wanted to get our first takeaways and we got two today."
The turnover battle was even, since Deshaun Watson also threw a pair of interceptions. But the offense was mostly crisp with Brandin Cooks having his best game as a Texan, and David Johnson averaging 5.6 yards per carry.
