They made a few trades but the Texans ultimately came away with nine players from the 2025 NFL Draft.
We introduced you to their first two picks in the second round, after trading out of the No. 25 overall pick in the first round.
Wide receiver Jayden Higgins, the 34th overall pick, has a real chance to compete for a starting role, given the limited talent Houston has at that position.
Offensive lineman Aireontae Ersery, also picked in the second round at No. 48 overall, adds depth to the o-line room and we'll see what kind of role he plays. It is the second straight year the Texans drafted an offensive tackle in the second round, having taken Blake Fisher out of Notre Dame in 2024.
With their two third-round picks, Houston selected a pair of Jaylins. Wide recevier Jaylin Noel was picked 79th overall. He was a teammate of Higgins at Iowa State. Cornerback Jaylin Smith was picked 97th overall. Smith was a teammate of Texans safety Calen Bullock at USC.
In the fourth round, the Texans picked running back Woody Marks, who played four years at Mississippi State and then last season at USC.
Houston drafted another Jaylen in the sixth round. This one with a different spelling, a safety from Penn State. If you're counting, that's four Jaylin/Jaylen/Jalen names on the team, including Pitre.
In the sixth round, the Texans surprised some folks by picking Florida quarterback Graham Mertz. They went with defensive tackle Kyonte Hamilton and tight end Luke Lachey in the seventh round.
