The Texans do not expect Deshaun Watson to play in any capacity Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, general manager Nick Caserio confirmed Wednesday morning on SportsRadio 610.

Tyrod Taylor had already been announced earlier in the week as the starter. Head coach David Culley said Monday that Taylor would start "for sure."

But with Watson still on the 53-man roster, despite his trade request and separate allegations of sexual misconduct, the possibility still remains for him to play for the Texans at some point.

Caserio confirmed Wednesday with Payne and Pendergast he does not expect Watson to play in their season-opener against the Jaguars at NRG Stadium.

"It’s really day-to-day," Caserio said. "So, we’ll take it one day at a time. But I wouldn’t anticipate him playing Sunday and we’ll recalibrate here as we go."
