(SportsRadio 610) - The Texans have an offensive coordinator as their coaching staff begins to take shape over the weekend.
Bobby Slowik, an assistant with the San Francisco 49ers since 2017, will be the Texans' offensive coordinator in DeMeco Ryans' first season as Houston's head coach, KPRC2's Aaron Wilson first reported. Slowik was the 49ers' offensive passing game coordinator last season after working as their offensive pass game specialist, assistant and defensive quality control coach.
Slowik, 35, was also a defensive assistant for Washington from 2011-2013.
The Texans are also hiring Jerrod Johnson as their quarterbacks coach. Johnson spent last season as assistant quarterbacks coach for the Minnesota Vikings after stints with the Indianapolis Colts and the 49ers. Houston also hired for San Francisco assistant Stephen Adegoke as their safeties coach.
With Slowik's hiring, the Texans are set with their coordinators. Matt Burke was hired as the defensive coordinator, while special teams coordinator Frank Ross was retained from the previous coaching staffs.
