Steichen, 37, just finished his second season as the Eagles' offensive coordinator after holding the same role with the Los Angeles Chargers the previous two seasons.

Aside from one season as offensive quality control coach for the Cleveland Browns in 2013, Steichen was an assistant in varying roles for the Chargers organization from 2011 through 2020. He was a defensive assistant from 2011-12; offensive quality control coach from 2014-15, then quarterbacks coach from 2016-19 before taking over as interim offensive coordinator in 2019.

Under Steichen this season, the Eagles' offense ranks third in DVOA, which measures efficiency, according to Football Outsiders.

Earlier in the week, the Texans also interviewed Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.

Texans general manager Nick Caserio told Payne & Pendergast on Wednesday the search for a new head coach could take two-three weeks.

Houston is searching for its third head coach in as many seasons under Caserio after back-to-back losing seasons.
