(SportsRadio 610) - There has not been a lot good to point toward midway through this Texans season.

They are 1-8 in the bye week, struggling to score touchdowns or really do anything well offensively on a consistent. Houston's offense ranks last in total DVOA, which measure efficiency, according to Football Outsiders.

On defense, the Texans are opportunistic. They have 14 takeaways through nine games under defensive coordinator Lovie Smith, while generating just nine all of last season. But they still have a bottom five run defense, per Football Outsiders' DVOA.

Texans insider John McClain joined Payne & Pendergast Wednesday morning for his weekly visit with midseason grades. For more on those, read McClain's piece in the Houston Chronicle.

They also discussed whether head coach David Culley could be fired after one season, and what impact that would have on the franchise's perception leaguewide.
