The Texans officially announced their assistant coaching staff for the 2021 season on Wednesday.

As previously reported, Lovie Smith is now the defensive coordinator and assistant head coach, replacing Anthony Weaver to lead the defense.

Tim Kelly remains for his third season as offensive coordinator, and presumably his second season calling plays. Pep Hamilton is the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.

Romeo Crennel, who was the interim head coach after Bill O'Brien's firing during the season, will serve as the senior advisor for football performance, according to the Texans.

Frank Ross is the Texans' new special teams coordinator, replacing Tracy Smith who along with his father Carl Smith re-joined the Seattle Seahawks' coaching staff this offseason.

James Campen replaces Mike Devlin as offensive line coach. Campen was the Los Angeles Chargers' offensive line coach last season. He spent 14 seasons coaching the Green Bay Packers' offensive line before a brief stint with the Cleveland Browns in 2019.

Danny Barrett was retained as the Texans' running backs coach. Bobby King moves from inside linebackers coach to defensive line coach (Weaver doubled up as defensive coordinator and line coach).

Miles Smith is coaching linebackers and Dino Vasso is coaching cornerbacks. Greg Jackson is the safeties coach. Robert Prince is the new wide receivers coach.

Andy Bischoff is coaching tight ends.

Also on the Texans' coaching staff:

Sean Baker (assistant special teams)

Ilir Rmini (defensive assistant)

Robert Kugler (assistant offensive line/offensive assistant)

Ben McDaniels (assistant wide receivers/offensive assistant)

DeNarius McGhee (offensive assistant)

Allen Smith (assistant defensive line/defensive assistant)
