(SportsRadio 610) - Texans safety Eric Murray will miss at least the next four games with a meniscus injury after the team placed him on the injured-reserve list Wednesday.

Murray has been one of the Texans' more versatile defensive backs over the last four seasons, joining the team as a free agent in 2020. He's started four games for Houston this season due to injuries to starters Jimmie Ward and Jalen Pitre.

Murray played Sunday when the Texans moved Ward to nickel cornerback, but later suffered the meniscus injury. Without Murray, the Texans also have a solid backup in M.J. Stewart, who stepped up for Murray in Sunday's win against the New Orleans Saints.

Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 reports Murray's meniscus injury will require surgery, but he does have a chance to return toward the end of the season. The Texans are 3-3 in their bye week and return to face the Carolina Panthers on the road.
