One day after being ruled out for the Texans' matchup against his former team the Buffalo Bills, veteran defensive end Jerry Hughes has landed on injured reserve.
The Texans had ruled Hughes, 36, out for Sunday's game against the Bills with a hip injury. Hughes did not practice Thursday or Friday and was limited in practice with the injury Wednesday. Now, he will miss at least four games.
Hughes in his 15th NFL season and third with the Texans, his hometown team. He spent nine seasons with the Bills from 2013 to 2021 after his first three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
In other roster moves announced Saturday, the Texans also activated defensive end Dylan Horton from the reserve/non-football injury list. Horton was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma last year as a rookie and had to leave the team. He was placed on the non-football injury list in July to begin the season.
Through 10 games as a rookie, Horton recorded 13 tackles, two quarterback hits and a tackle for loss.
