Texans QB Davis Mills explains difference working in Pep Hamilton's system

(SportsRadio 610) - The Houston Texans begin year two of the rebuild with new expectations leading up to the 2022 NFL season.

Lovie Smith is the new head coach of this team and Pep Hamilton was promoted from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator.

Second-year quarterback Davis Mills has experience running a similar pro-style system at Stanford, where Hamilton also once coached.

After Monday's practice at training camp, Mills joined In the Loop to discuss what’s different about the offensive system. They also discuss what to expect from the 2022 Texans.

The main difference, according to Mills, is the quarterback not having to do as much pre-snap reading and thinking, rather it instead falling on the center.

In the Patriots-centric system the Texans ran under Bill O'Brien and Tim Kelly, quarterbacks were required to do far more thinking at the line of scrimmage, which sometimes bogged down plays and tempo.
