(SportsRadio 610) - If you are a Texans fan hoping the team would trade Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the highest bidder in effort to rebuild the roster with young, less expensive talent, don't hold your breath.

The Texans restructured Tunsil's contract, according to Pro Football Network's Aaron Wilson, to free about $8.4 million in salary cap space for 2022. To do this, they converted his $17.85 million salary to $16.815 million in bonus money and the remaining in salary, Wilson reported.

Tunsil gets all of his money, but his cap figure drops from $26.1 million to $17.7 million in 2022, while his 2023 salary of $18.5 million remains unchanged.

Tunsil, originally a first-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2016, was traded to the Texans shortly before the 2019 season in exchange for two first-round picks, a second round pick and the swapping of marginal players.

Since then, Tunsil was named to back-to-back Pro Bowls in 2019 and 2020. A thumb injury that required surgery limited Tunsil to just five games last season.

There had been speculation about whether the Texans would consider trading Tunsil, given how much has changed since he was first acquired nearly three years ago. This upcoming draft is also considered to be littered with talented offensive tackles and Houston currently holds the No. 3 overall pick.

Teams even called the Texans about trade possibilities for Tunsil, but Houston is moving forward with him.

Tunsil himself had a pretty funny reaction to the restructure:
