(SportsRadio 610) -- Texans interim head coach Romeo Crennel called his team's effort "uninspired" following a blowout 36-7 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

The Bears took an early lead over the Texans after Houston punted on its first offensive possession, then gave up an 80-yard touchdown run to David Montgomery on the Bears' first play from scrimmage.

Chicago outscored Houston 23-7 in the second quarter and never looked back.

"It was uninspired," Crennel said after the game. "You know, we didn't have the energy that we have been having the last couple weeks. I don't know why, what it was. But that will, that attitude the last couple weeks that we've played with, we didn't have that today."

The loss mathematically eliminated the Texans from postseason contention.

J.J. Watt, however, was not under any illusion about making it anyway. The Texans had already dug themselves a hole, starting 0-4 and essentially playing .500 ball since then.

Watt called the loss embarrassing and his teammates later echoed that feeling.

"Well, losing hurts, whether it's on defense, offense, special teams. Losing hurts," Crennel added. "And then the fact that we didn't play with the kind of energy that we have been playing with, you know, that was disappointing."
