(SportsRadio 610) - The Texans will have a new starting center going forward as rookie Jarrett Patterson goes on the injured-reserve with a lower leg injury.
Patterson, a sixth-round pick by the Texans who has started all seven games for them this season after training camp and preseason injuries, was carted off the field in Houston's 15-13 loss at the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said Monday he expected Patterson to "be out for some time," but it was reported by KPRC2's Aaron Wilson that Patterson suffered a broken ankle and would miss the remainder of the season.
Without Patterson, the Texans have Michael Deiter, who's started 23 games at center guard for the Miami Dolphins.
Second-year tight end Teagan Quitoriano is also headed to the injured-reserve with a groin injury.

The Texans signed tight end Eric Saubert from the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad and safety DeAndre Houston-Carson from the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad.
