The Houston Texans are bringing in free agent safety Earl Thomas for a visit, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported Monday.

Thomas has yet to receive a workout from a team after being released by the Baltimore Ravens on Aug. 23.

His release came just days after he punched a teammate during practice and was abruptly sent home.

The Texans are down a safety after placing A.J. Moore on the injured-reserve list with a hamstring injury. Justin Reid and Eric Murray play most snaps at safety, and Lonnie Johnson Jr. has played safety this season as well.

Rapoport said the Texans are working out multiple safeties this week in a group which includes Thomas.

According to Rapoport, no deal is in place with Thomas or any other safety.

"For now, a tryout and visit, and the team will see where it goes in a few days when COVID-19 testing concludes," Rapoport said.

Thomas, a native of Orange, Texas, shares an agent with Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
