Texans to sign CB Terrance Mitchell to 2-year deal: report

The Texans are signing veteran cornerback Terrance Mitchell to a two-year deal worth up to $7.5 million, according to a Houston Chronicle report.

Mitchell, 28, started every game for the Cleveland Browns last season. He joins a Texans secondary and defensive unit which was among the NFL's worst in 2020.

Mitchell 65 tackles, three forced fumbles, two tackles for losses and 13 passes defensed for the Browns last season. He had been with Cleveland since signing a three-year, $12 million contract in 2018.

Mitchell has started in 38 of his 69 career games, posting seven interceptions, five forced fumbles, 46 passes defensed, one sack and 197 career tackles.

He also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs (2016-2017), climbing from the practice squad into a starting role.

With Bradley Roby as the only other viable starting corner on the roster, Mitchell figures to start on the opposite side.
