For the third straight game, the Houston Texans will be without their top running back due to an ankle injury.
Joe Mixon, who was injured in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears at the hands of an illegal hip drop tackle, is ruled out for Sunday's Week 5 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Mixon did not practice this week and practiced only once the previous week, in a Friday walk-through before he was eventually ruled out for last Sunday's win against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
This means the Texans once again will not have their top back, who rushed for 159 yards on 30 carries in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, on his way to being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
The status of Mixon's backup, Dameon Pierce, is also in question. Pierce, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, returned to practice Friday in a limited capacity after missing all of the previous three weeks. The team lists him as questionable to play against the Bills, who they host Sunday at noon.
Late additions to the injury report are starting middle linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, who is now questionable with an illness, and reserve defensive tackle Kurt Hinish, who has been ruled out with a calf injury. Hinish was a full participant in practice all week and had been listed as questionable on Friday's injury report.
