Texans work out former Bengals, Cardinals CB Dre Kirkpatrick after Bradley Roby trade: report

Former Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick is working out for the Texans, who have a need at the position after trading Bradley Roby to the New Orleans Saints this week.

Kirkpatrick, 31, has spent most of his career in Cincinnati where he started in 67 games over eight seasons.

He started 11 of 14 games played last season for Arizona, where he recorded three interceptions.

The Texans traded Roby to the Saints for a third-round pick next year and a conditional sixth-round pick in 2023. Their top corners, without Roby, are Terrance Mitchell and Vernon Hargreaves III on the outside, with Desmond King II playing the nickel.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Kirkpatrick is working out for the Texans on Friday. Kirkpatrick has also visited with the Saints, San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots this offseason.

If Kirkpatrick signs with Houston, he could provide some depth at corner, and possibly compete for a starting role.

The Texans open the regular season Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars at NRG Stadium.

You can listen to the game at noon on Audacy and SportsRadio 610.
