Texans WR Tank Dell released from hospital after suffering minor wound in Florida shooting

Texans wide receiver Tank Dell is recovering from what is being described as a "minor wound" from a shooting in Sanford, Florida early Sunday morning.

The team released a statement saying it was aware of Dell being a victim of a shooting, that he sustained a minor wound, was released from the hospital and is in good spirits.

The mass shooting happened at a nightclub, where Dell was one of 10 victims, all with non-life threatening injuries, KPRC2's Aaron Wilson reported.

Dell, a native of nearby Daytona Beach, was an innocent bystander caught in the middle of what investigators believe was a verbal altercation that led to gunfire.

Florida police say a 16-year-old suspect has been taken into custody, being charged with attempted homicide, discharging a firearm on public property and possession of a firearm by a minor.

"We are in contact with him and his family and will provide more updates when appropriate but we ask that you please respect his privacy at this time," the Texans said in a statement published to social media. "Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the incident."

Dell, at just 5'8", 165 pounds, was one of the Texans' standout wide receivers as a third-round rookie last season. He started in eight games and played in 11 before suffering a fractured fibula in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos.

As a rookie, Dell complied 709 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 47 catches. He is recovered from the broken leg and expected to be ready for offseason activities. Prior to being drafted by the Texans, Dell also starred at the University of Houston.

Just last week, he was seen modeling the Texans' new uniforms at the 713 Music Hall downtown.
