Texans tight end Brevin Jordan placed on injured reserve list

Texans backup tight end Brevin Jordan will miss at least the next four games after being placed on the injured reserve list with a knee injury.

Jordan, who is in his fourth season, was listed on the injured-reserve at Wednesday's practice. The designation means he will miss a minimum of four games. He has two catches for seven yards in Houston's first two games this season, but factors into both its run and pass game.

Without Jordan, the Texans will continue to rely heavily on rookie Cade Stover and possibly undrafted rookie British Brooks in some personnel groupings involving a fullback.

Another hit to the Texans run game is an apparent calf injury to backup center Jarrett Patterson, who filled in for the injured starter Juice Scruggs (groin) in last Sunday night's victory over the Chicago Bears.

Top running backs Joe Mixon (ankle) and Dameon Pierce (hamstring) also were not seen at Wednesday's practice.
