Texans trade Kenyon Green to Eagles for C.J. Gardner-Johnson

The offensive line turnover continues for the Texans.

Houston is trading left guard Kenyon Green to the Philadelphia Eagles for safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, NFL Network reported Tuesday morning. Also part of the deal is a 2026 fifth-round pick to the Eagles and a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Texans.

This comes after the Texans already released right guard Shaq Mason and traded left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders. It means three of the five starters who began the 2024 season for Houston are now gone.

Who replaces them is still in question, but there is no doubt changes needed to be made as the Texans struggled to protect quarterback C.J. Stroud in his second season. Stroud was sacked the second-most of anyone in football last season, as the offensive line struggled to pick up pressure throughout the season.

All of it resulted in the Texans firing offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, offensive line coach Chris Strausser and showing the door to three of its five starters. There are likely more moves on the way with free agency just beginning Monday.
