The Texans are sending defensive tackle Khalil Davis to the San Francisco 49ers for a future late-round draft pick.
The NFL trade deadline came and went Tuesday without Houston adding a significant player to the roster. Houston sent Davis to the 49ers in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick, The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported.
Davis was part of the Texans' depth at defensive tackle and a player who they could afford to move, especially as they make room on the roster for veteran defensive end Jerry Hughes and cornerback Jeff Okudah, who had been on the injured reserve list.
As far as needs, the Texans could have used help on their interior offensive line, between the lackluster performance from that group and left guard Kenyon Green landing on season-ending injured reserve due to a shoulder injury.
